Walking/hiking routes

Length: 6.6 kilometres.
The hiking route Linnerweerd takes you past the weir with hydropower plant and fish ladders, the Linnerweerd, Huys Heysterum castle, Ravenburg estate and the church in Linne. A route mainly through beautiful nature with lovely views and buildings. Surface: paved and unpaved roads.

Linne

The village of Linne lies on a so-called low terrace on the banks of the river Meuse. Linne is first mentioned in a charter dated 24 June 943. But excavations show that people were already living there in Roman times. Moreover, surface finds show that people also resided there in the Old Stone Age. Due to its location on the low-terrace, Linne is almost entirely protected from flooding, even when the Meuse reaches extremely high water levels as in 1993 and 1995. An exception to this is the Linnerweerd. This area is located in the winter bed of the Meuse at the foot of the low terrace.

Starting and finishing point is café restaurant De Harmoniezaal in Linne. The route runs via junctions.
