Saint Lambert and Saint Lambert church

Saint Lambert, made in 1953, is one of the first works of art by Rob Stultiens (1922 - 2002).

Stultiens' oeuvre cannot be categorised. He made sculptures, drawings and reliefs using materials such as clay, stone, metal, Perspex and plastic. The subjects of his works of art varied from human figures to machines, robots, spaceships, modern apartment buildings, parks and gardens.

Poetry and dreams play a very important role in his works, as do eroticism, aggression and humour. Saint Lambert is one of his first works, it was made of hard stone.

The statue hangs in the St. Lambertus church in Helden. The first mention of the church of Helden dates from 1230. In that year, Willem, lord of Horne, gave the abbot of the monastery Averbode the right of patronage over the church. Around 1598, the building burned down. During the Second World War, the deck was destroyed. Later, the St. Lambertus church was rebuilt.
