Stadscafé Du Commerce
Stadscafé Du Commerce is the starting point of a beautiful bicycle tour of approximately 62 km. This route takes you through the nature-rich Grenspark KempenBroek to the white town of Thorn. Along the way you cycle along the border between Belgian and Dutch Limburg, through villages and past various mills and places of interest. Along the way, enjoy a snack and a drink at the many cozy spots you encounter.
KempenBroek
KempenBroek is a cross-border nature reserve of no less than 25,000 ha, unique in both Flanders and the Netherlands. It stretches across Cranendonck, Nederweert and Weert in the Netherlands, and across Bocholt, Bree, Kinrooi and Maaseik in Belgium. Once a haven for billygoat riders and smugglers, KempenBroek is now an oasis of peace and natural beauty. Recreation area the IJzeren Man in Weert is also part of KempenBroek, a versatile 100-hectare area where there is plenty to do, from hiking and cycling to water skiing and swimming.
Thorn
One of the gems of Limburg is the white town of Thorn, known for its characteristic white-painted facades. This striking architecture adds to Thorn's unique atmosphere and appearance, in addition to its monumental buildings, historic alleys and authentic streets. Thorn's imposing Abbey Church rises high above the white houses. Thorn is located in the Maasvallei River Park nature reserve, a cross-border area of 15,000 ha stretching from Maastricht to Thorn, along both the Dutch and Belgian banks of the Meuse. This area is ideal for hiking and biking, where you can enjoy the beautiful nature along the Meuse River.
